In this course you will learn how to apply Information Communication Technologies (ICTS) to manage information in different organizations; be it a library, a business enterprise or a government unit.

What you will Learn ?

In this course you will learn how to apply Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) to manage information in different organizations; be it a library, a business enterprise or a government unit. In this module, you will learn how to design different information systems that are used in organizations to collect, store, analyze and disseminate information. Further, you will learn how to design websites using HTML and CSS and how to use desktop publishing software to design documents, graphics etc

We shall define major concepts such as information systems, data, information, knowledge and wisdom/interline. Unit one will also explain among other things; components of an information system, types of information systems and approaches to designing information systems.

You will learn theories of database designing which will cover among other things; ways of designing a database, data modeling with entity relationship, and transformation of data models into real database designs.

Then you will be further exposed  to Structural Query Language (SQL), the language used in designing databases. This language is used by server based database management systems such as MySQL that we will use to create databases and designing information systems such as library management systems. You will create a database in MySQL based on the database design that you shall develop.Following this, you will learn how to design a website using Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Further you will learn how host and mange a website. 

Course Requirements

  • A processor of 2.4GHz or faster
  • 4 GB of RAM (8 GB of RAM recommended)
  • A high-speed Internet connection (1.5 Mbps upload and download required; 5 Mbps or better preferred)
